Children have a very special place here at Wilshire Avenue Community Church. They are more than the future of the church, they are the church. Our hope is to not only teach the children to “know about” Jesus, but to “know” Jesus personally as Lord and Savior. While we believe that parents have the primary responsibility for nurturing the faith of their children, we come alongside the parents to equip, encourage and provide additional teachers and role models for children.

Our Children’s Ministry invites all children to “Dive In” and experience God’s love through interactive lessons filled with hands-on activities geared specifically toward each age group.  We offer classes from Nursery-6th grade. Our purpose for Children’s ministry is to provide a safe and loving environment to encourage spiritual growth in the lives of young kids, so that they may grow to trust Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.  We have a team of screened volunteers who serve in our classrooms on Sunday mornings who help care for and shape the heart of a child to understand Jesus and His love for them.  We desire to build spiritual champions who are fully developed followers of Christ … kid size!

Volunteer Opportunities

There are always opportunities for parents to get involved in our Children’s Ministry. Come help us be a small group leader, greeter, classroom volunteer, nursery worker, worship team member, or creative team member. If you are interested in joining our Children’s Ministry team, please contact Sheree Pankow.

Access Ministries

It is our desire for Wilshire Avenue to be a welcoming and accessible place for all kids. We believe everyone is a child of God – kids with special needs, kids affected by foster care or adoption, and kids in any sort of special circumstances. Every kid is invited to be a part of our Children’s Ministry in our weekly Sunday School and special events like VBS. For more information or to talk about how we can best include your child, please contact Alicia McCormick at or (714) 308-1351.
