“The New Normal” Sermon Series

With all of the changes going on in society, many desire to go back to “normal.” What if the new normal looked very different? What if during this season we got a clearer picture of who we really are and what our purpose is in this life? What if we could create a healthy new normal together? Join us this Sunday as we look to God who gives us our identity and purpose and leads us to that new normal.

Be A Difference Maker Globally

As we shared a few Sundays ago, we have the opportunity to sponsor 89 children in the Dominican Republic. We currently have 45 out of the 89 children sponsored at the church plant in the Dominican Republic. We are still looking for 44 more sponsors to make a difference in these children’s lives. For $38 a month the entire course of a child’s life can be changed. The exciting thing about this child sponsorship opportunity is that the compassion center where the children will be receiving care is on the same property as the church that we helped plant. Pastor Welvin is already at work with these children and visiting their families.

WA Kids Regathering – October 4

We have great news! Our WA Kids will start meeting again outside on campus on Sunday mornings at our 10:30. This will start on October 4. Children ages 2 to 4 will meet downstairs in the preschool playground area and elementary aged children will meet outside in our back lot. They will have their large group time for worship and a bible story followed by activities. Children will be screened for temperatures, remain socially distanced and will wear masks while at WA Kids. Parents you will be able to RSVP at wilshireave.com/togetheragain and let us know how many children are coming.

Our Stories – Jacob Longcrier

I started going to youth group at Wilshire about 4 years ago. At the time I was lost, very distant from God and wasn’t making the best choices. When I was there I felt uncomfortable because outside of those doors I was wearing a mask and kept it on for a long time so that I could have everyone’s approval. I wanted to be friends with everyone and I wanted to feel accepted. Although I went to church every week, I wasn’t representing Christ. It wasn’t until a year ago when I came to the realization that I need to devote my life to God. So I talked to my parents and Sekwohn about getting baptized. The Day I did get baptized I was so happy and in that moment I realized I don’t need others approval I should only seek for Gods. I love coming to youth group because of the amazing staff and making a relationship with God. The time I have spent at Wilshire I have shed many tears, shared many laughs, and created life long friendships.
