In The Middle sermon series

We are excited to continue with our series “In The Middle”. If you missed last week it’s not too late to watch it online at wilshireave.com/messages. This Sunday we will continue to look at God who is right there in the middle of our pain and difficulties. We hope you’ll join us this Sunday and invite a friend along as well.

Book Reading List

  • Where Is God?: Finding His Presence, Purpose and Power in Difficult Times
    by John Townsend

    • How is God active in the middle of our hard times? How can I find God? With powerful stories and practical applications, Where Is God? assures readers that even when it feels as though God is absent it is his nature to be in relationship, to connect with, love, and guide us. And when we seek him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, he shows up in ways that transform us forever.
  • Where Is God When It Hurts? : A Comforting, Healing Guide For Coping With Hard Times  by Philip Yancey
    • Where Is God When It Hurts? will speak to those for whom life sometimes just doesn’t make sense. And it will help equip anyone who wants to reach out to someone in pain but just doesn’t know what to say.
  • Finding God in the Hard Times: Choosing to Trust and Hope When You Can’t See the Way  by Matt and Beth Redman
    • In this inspiring book, Matt and Beth Redman draw on their experiences as well as those of others, exploring how to offer praise even in the face of hardship and pain.

Baptism

Baptism is an important step in following Jesus. It symbolizes one’s death to sin, burial of the old life, and a resurrection to new life in Christ. Just as Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose to life again. Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples and to baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We will be holding baptisms at church on May 16. If you would like to get baptized please contact us at office@wilshireave.com.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”- Matthew 28-18:20

Give

The purpose of tithing is to teach us to always put God first in our lives. God doesn’t need our money. He wants what it represents, 1) our gratitude, 2) our priorities 3) and our faith.

You can give to God at wilshireave.com/give.
