Baptism // MAR 03

Baptism is an important step in following Jesus. It symbolizes one’s death to sin, burial of the old life, and a resurrection to new life in Christ. Just as Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose to life again. Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples and to baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We will be holding baptisms at church on March 03. If you are interested in getting baptized please email office@wilshireave.com

Legacy

The LEGACY Building Fund:
As we make our final push to purchase the remaining equity of the LEGACY Buildings, every donation will help us reach our goal to own 100% by the end of 2024.  Here are a few ways you might consider to give:

  • Donate your 2023 Tax Return: Many of us will receive a tax return for the year 2023.  Donating your tax return is a simple way of making a special donation with funds that are above your regular salary.
  • Donate your Required Minimum Distribution: A required minimum distribution (RMD) is the amount of money that must be withdrawn annually from an employer-sponsored retirement plan, traditional IRA, SEP, or SIMPLE individual retirement account (IRA) by owners and qualified retirement plan participants of retirement age.  A RMD acts as a safeguard against people using a retirement account to avoid paying taxes.
  • Give an “Above and Beyond” Offering: A tithe is a specific amount (10% of your income) that you give first, and an offering is anything extra that you give above and beyond that.
  • Tithe on Inheritance or Special Gifts: There’s no scripture that says you have to tithe on money you receive as a gift or inheritance, but that doesn’t mean you can’t. It’s a personal decision and can be an act of generosity giving a portion of everything God has given to you.

God’s generosity is incredible.  Let us continue to strive to be generous like our Father if Heaven!

Walking with Jesus // Starting MAR 03

The Gospel According to Matthew

I’ve often wondered what it would have been like to spend a day with Jesus as his disciples did. I would love to watch how Jesus would interact with others conveying value and worth to each person he meets. I would marvel how he would use his eyes, facial expressions and nonverbal communication to communicate love and compassion to others. Watching the Creator care and engage with his creation for just one day would truly be life changing.

I invite you to walk with Jesus as seen through Matthew’s eyes. On the first Sunday in March, we will begin a 15-week journey where we will discover:

  • How Adam and Eve should have done battle with the devil
  • The heart of the Creator as he heals and restores his broken children
  • The hard hearts of the religious leader as they reject their promised Messiah
  • Why the Son of God voluntarily goes to Jerusalem knowing he will be beaten and crucified

The Bible says that Jesus is the exact representation of God’s being. So, if you want to know what God is like, join us on Sunday March 3rd at 9am in room 304 as we experience the life of Jesus as told by Matthew.
